Barack Obama and John McCain on Long-Term Care Financing Technorati position 1
Tonight is the second debate of the presidential candidates.  It will be a town-hall forum.  Wouldn’t it be nice if one of the citizens - or Tom Brokaw (the NBC moderator living fully after 50) asked about the candidates’ ideas on the future of financing long-term care and aging services in America? Here’s a question that aarp magazine recently put to the two candidates:How would you shift long-term care services and financing so that people can afford to stay in their homes and communitie

McCain’s Health Care Plan to Cut $1.3 Trillion From Medicare/Medicaid Technorati position 2
He’s toast…… when seniors hear about this, he’s toast. Or so you’d think. People in this country have a tendency to vote against their own best interests. This does explain one thing to me, though. I receive the aarp magazine. In the last two issues they’ve published answers to questionnaire sent to the two candidates regarding issues that concern seniors. McCain did not, and has not, responded. Barack Obama responded in both issues. Let’s see an Obama ad about this hit the airwaves…….John M

aarp magazine + Edgy Red & Black Color Scheme = the Daily BeastPosted by Mike Riggs on Oct. 6, 2008, at 9:51 amTina Brown’s new site is up and running. Brown, a former editor at Vanity Fair and a number of other illustrious places, expects the Daily Beast will set new standards for the online consumption of news and Oprah gossip. While I’d like to think that dinosaurs are good for more than fossil fuel, it’s dubious that Brown has discovered how to steal eyes from Matt Drudge or Slate–m

Sarah Palin Lives On Technorati position 4
Get old and you find yourself reading aarp magazine:  As they get older, some curmudgeons actually mellow. Ed Asner is a curmudgeon, and he also played one on TV, as Lou Grant, Mary Richards’ boss at WJM-TV on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Reminded of his famous line to Mary in the series pilot, “You’ve got spunk… I hate spunk!” he confesses to having second thoughts about it: “No one could hate spunk, not even a curmudgeon. I should have said, ‘You know what? You’re pretty goddam perky. I hate p

Chewing Our Cud on the Plot Farm Technorati position 6
A few weeks ago, with Piper busy doing imaginary things to imaginary people, I gave you an assignment for LAMB Grazin' On the Plot Farm 3.0. Not to take anything away from the fine, fine folks that did partake (thank you!), but I obviously would lose a popularity contest to that dirty, stinkin' Piper, as there were but two responses.Nevertheless, we plow on. Read these fine, fine entries with a critical eye and vote for your favorite at the end.El Gringo from He Shot CyrusToo Hot To HandleWritte

aarpers Might Like This Brian Williams Story, Too Technorati position 7
the November/December issue of aarp the magazine features an interview of NBC’s Brian Williams, according to an aarp news release today.  While I’m certain the article is full of a lot of newsman wit and wisdom, I suspect readers of the silver-haired group’s publication might get a bigger kick out of my experience with “the most watched network news anchor in America.”In Brian Williams and Other Air Force Memories, a post published nearly two years ago on this blog, I wrote down some memories

Brian Williams' Seat on the "Supreme Court" Technorati position 8
the cover story of the current issue of aarp magazine is a feature on Brian Williams by Joe Conason. Williams describes his role on the Nightly News as that of a Supreme Court justice."I'm in the Brokaw seat on the Supreme Court," he said. "Tom used to view it as being in the Chancellor seat; and before him, Frank McGee; and before him, Huntley and Brinkley. And we see it as a continuum."Brokaw talks about the decision to bring Williams to NBC in the article. "I never understood why CBS wa

Who Is Your Investor Relations Site For? Technorati position 10
Have you ever thought about who your target audience is?Marketers obsess over their target audience like Gollum over his ring.  No one wants to waste dollars or effort where they won’t be received well.  That’s why you’ll never see an ad with a purple haired snowboarder doing a back flip off a cliff in the aarp magazine.  (Note to our non-American friends: American Association of Retired People)  But, have you ever thought about who your target is with your Investor Relations website?Sure
